In Alma 48, we read about Moroni, or “Captain Moroni” as he is often referred to in order to distinguish him from the Moroni who lived hundreds of years later, who was the son of Mormon and who was the final author in the Book of Mormon.
It is quite possible that the latter Moroni was named after the former, and with good reason.
Mormon explains in his commentary on Moroni the military captain:
“If all men [and women] had been, and were, and ever would be, like unto Moroni, behold, the very powers of hell would have been shaken forever; yea, the devil would never have power over the hearts of the children of men.” – Alma 48:17
We should all try to live so that it may said of us as it was said of this Moroni.
